A 6-night Sri Lanka holiday combining hills, beaches and adventure. Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Kandy, take a day trip to the tea country of Nuwara Eliya, cruise the Madu River and see a turtle hatchery in Bentota, go whale watching at Mirissa and try river rafting at Kitulgala. Includes hotels, daily breakfast, transfers and sightseeing.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Colombo and transfer to Kandy with Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

When we arrive at the Colombo International Airport where our representatives will be waiting to greet and transfer you to Kandy. While on our way to Kandy, we’ll make a quick stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage which has become one of Sri Lanka’s most popular attraction. Tourists and locals all love meeting the residents here and interact with the 65 captive elephants who were saved from many situations. Some of them were orphaned and abandoned since babies, others were elderly matriarchs who can’t survive in the wild anymore or adults that had suffered from unethical treatments while in captivity. It is about 90km from Colombo and after you have fun playing with the elephants, we’ll head to Kandy to the hotel. We’ll check-in and let you rest for the night in Kandy.

Day 2: Day Excursion to Nuwara Eliya

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel before we go out. Today, we’re visiting Nuwara Eliya, a beautiful city that means the “city of light.” It’s known for the tea produce and the Hakgala Botanical Gardens. Nuwara Eliya earned the title as the “Little England” of Sri Lanka after tea was first brought in here from China. As one of British most iconic drinks, it quickly became the dream city that has been heavily influenced by English architecture. Enjoy a stunning experience as you take in the view of the valleys, waterfalls, and hills, as if you’ve been teleported to England on a beautiful spring day. There are cottages and mansions mimicking Queen Anne features, such as the wide porches and steep roof with huge dormers. You can take home some memorable post cards from the post office.

Day 3: Transfer from Kandy to Bentota with Madu River & Turtle Hatchery

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel in Kandy before your check-out. We’ll change city today to Bentota and make the best of the trip with an excursion to Madu River. The Boat Safari at Madu River is a major attraction that will show you the view of the wide Madu Ganga. It’s a healing journey through the mangrove forest and observe the biodiversity of Madu River that includes 19 endemic species. There are 64 islands and is such an attractive destination for nature lovers and bird watchers. Catch sights of the rare bird species and reptiles that made their home here. There are also traditional fishermen here who make a living through Stilt Fishing. It is a method that uses a crossbar with a vertical pole attached to the sea floor and they wait by the crossbar for the fish to bite.

Day 4: Day Excursion to Mirissa with Whale Watching

Today’s going to be an exciting day as we head out into the southern sea for Mirissa Whale Watching. The day trip will be taking a few hours and starts with your driver waiting at the rendezvous point to take you to the dock. At an extra cost, we’ll board the boat that heads out into the sea and serves picnic breakfast. Enjoy the view of the sea and the ride that’ll take about 5 hours as we try to spot for the world’s largest mammals, the blue whales. When you head back to the shore, we will head for a delightful lunch at Paradise Beach Club Restaurant, bills to be paid separately by guests. Enjoy your lunch before relaxing at the pool that has a stunning view of the Indian Ocean. We’ll head back to Bentota on a cruise

Day 5: Transfer from Bentota to Colombo

Enjoy your breakfast the check-out from the hotel in Bentota and hop on your ride for Colombo. We’ll immediately head for the hotel for your check-in before you can rest in your room. You’ll have the rest of the day at leisure and we suggest you indulge in Colombian shopping experience at the Odel & Mondy. Or perhaps give the famous Casinos of Colombo a visit! We will spend the night at the hotel in Colombo

Day 6: Day Excursion to Kitulgala for River Rafting

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel in Colombo. Your ride will be waiting at the hotel to transfer you to Kitulgala for an excursion. The ride will be 3 hours long, as your guide tells you about the small town located in the west of Sri Lanka. It’s known for the wet rainforest and experience two monsoons every year. There are natural rock pools and waterfalls at Kataran Oya, which offers water sports, like, Canyoning. Or you can just dip in one of the 7 natural pools and slide through the 5-meter waterfall with safety gear provided. Try your hand in white water rafting through the Kelani River at an extra cost and experience the adrenaline of going through 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids. After you take in the wonder of nature of Kitulgala, we’ll head out for Sri Lankan lunch consisting of rice and curry. Then drive back to Colombo for your overnight stay.

Day 7: Departure From Colombo Hotel Transfer to Airport

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel before we check-out. You’ll have the rest of the day on your own before the time of departure. Our team will drive you to the airport per schedule for your flight back home
