Trade the crowded hill stations for the quiet villages of the old Silk Route. This short escape begins beside the gurgling Rishi Khola river, winds up through the forests and lakes of Aritar to the hamlet of Lingtam, and climbs to Zuluk, where the legendary hairpin bends of the Zigzag Road unfold beneath you., Stays are in cosy riverside resorts and homestays with all main meals included, so you can simply soak in the mountain air, the waterfalls and the sweeping valley views of East Sikkim. It is a compact, offbeat Himalayan getaway for travellers who love open roads and unhurried evenings.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Bagdogra / NJP – Rishikhola

On arrival at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, you will be met and driven to your riverside stay at Rishikhola. Freshen up, relax and enjoy the natural beauty of this peaceful riverside retreat.

Overnight: Rishikhola

Day 2: Rishikhola – Lingtam via Aritar

After breakfast, drive to Lingtam with sightseeing en route: Aritar Lake, the hanging bridge, the Bakuthar river, Kuekhola Falls and Padamchen Eco Nature Park.

Overnight: Lingtam

Day 3: Lingtam – Zuluk along the Silk Route

After breakfast, drive up to Zuluk exploring the Silk Route sights – Zuluk village, the famous Zigzag Road and Zigzag Viewpoint, Thambi Viewpoint, Tukla Valley, Gnathang Valley, Old Baba Mandir and Kupup Lake. A visit to Nathula Pass can be added as an optional excursion at extra cost, subject to permit availability.

Overnight: Zuluk

Day 4: Departure – Bagdogra / NJP

After breakfast, check out and drive to Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station for your onward journey.

• Vehicle upgrade (Innova / Xylo or similar) or an additional vehicle – at extra cost
• Local taxi fares from taxi stands where private vehicles are not permitted
• Expenses for worship or contributions at religious places
• Adventure or special activities
• Extra meals, room service, campfire / bonfire / BBQ
• Extra costs due to natural calamities, political unrest or other unavoidable circumstances
