Overview

Journey into the heart of the Namib Desert on this short, private guided escape from Windhoek to Sossusvlei. The road crosses the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass, with viewpoints over the endless panorama of the Namib, and pauses at the little desert outpost of Solitaire before reaching your lodge near the dunes., At sunrise you climb the famous Dune 45, then explore Sossusvlei and the striking Dead Vlei, set among some of the tallest red sand dunes in the world, before ending the day with a sunset dune drive. It is a perfect short trip for photographers and lovers of wide, silent landscapes, with balloon and helicopter flights available as optional extras.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Windhoek

Welcome to Windhoek, Namibia. After passport and immigration formalities, meet your driver outside arrivals and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or explore the city on your own.

Overnight: Windhoek

Day 2: Windhoek – Spreetshoogte Pass – Sossusvlei

After an early breakfast, set off for the world-famous Sossusvlei via the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass, stopping at the viewpoint to admire the endless panorama of the Namib. En route, stop for lunch (at own cost) at Solitaire. The drive is roughly three hundred and fifty kilometres on gravel road.

Day 3: Dune 45, Sossusvlei & Dead Vlei

Rise at sunrise to climb the scenic Dune 45, with an early breakfast at the lodge. Spend a relaxed day exploring the famed dune area around Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei, known for huge red sand dunes that are among the tallest in the world. Conclude the day with a sunset dune drive.

Optional at extra cost: balloon flight or helicopter flight over the dunes, archery.

Overnight: Sossusvlei

Day 4: Sossusvlei – Windhoek

After an early breakfast, return to Windhoek through the Spreetshoogte Pass, arriving in the capital around noon. The rest of the day is free.

Day 5: Departure from Windhoek

After an early breakfast, transfer to Hosea Kutako International Airport for your departure.
