Overview

Madagascar, often called the eighth continent, is home to thousands of plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth. This holiday begins in Antananarivo, the colourful highland capital of red-brick houses, rice fields and sacred hills, before flying north to Nosy Be, the island of perfume, fragrant with ylang-ylang, coffee and pepper., From Nosy Be, speedboat excursions take you to the twin islands of Nosy Iranja joined by a white sandbank, to Nosy Komba with its sacred lemurs, and to the coral reefs of the Nosy Tanikely marine park. A quad-bike ride across the island, an afternoon on Andilana beach and a sundowner on Mount Passot complete this blend of beach, wildlife and island life.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo

Welcome to Madagascar. On arrival you are met by our representative and driven to your hotel.

The capital is a city of a thousand facets and colours, with a contrasting landscape of red-brick houses and rice fields, valleys and sacred hills, each with its own stories and legends. Spend your first night here on the central highlands.

Overnight: Antananarivo

Day 2: Antananarivo – Nosy Be

After breakfast, take a domestic flight to Nosy Be, where you are met and transferred to your hotel. The climate is tropical, and the swimming pool is waiting after your journey.

The rest of the day is free to relax, swim and enjoy the beach, or to treat yourself to a massage with Malagasy essential oils at your own cost, as you settle into the island atmosphere.

Day 3: Full-Day Excursion to Nosy Iranja

After breakfast, take a speedboat for about an hour and a half to Nosy Iranja, considered one of the most beautiful islands in the world. It is made up of two islets joined by a white sandbank visible at low tide, surrounded by turquoise water.

Known as turtle island because sea turtles come here to lay their eggs, Iranja is also rich in seabirds. After a picnic lunch on the beach under the coconut palms, you can visit the lighthouse and the village before returning to Nosy Be in the afternoon.

Day 4: Nosy Komba & Nosy Tanikely Marine Park

After breakfast, a speedboat takes you to Nosy Komba, the second island of the archipelago, famous for its sacred lemurs and also home to chameleons, lizards, turtles and other species. Water sports are available at your own cost.

Continue to Nosy Tanikely marine park, whose spectacular coral reef is a natural aquarium full of colourful fish, sea turtles and rays. Visit the lighthouse for panoramic views and its small museum, then return to Nosy Be in the afternoon.

Day 5: Nosy Be by Quad, Andilana Beach & Mount Passot Sunset

After breakfast, meet your guide and explore the tracks of Nosy Be by quad bike, accompanied by professionals, past plantations of coffee, pepper, fruit trees and fragrant ylang-ylang.

Spend the afternoon on Andilana beach, the most beautiful on the island, then watch the sunset from Mount Passot overlooking the sacred lakes before returning to your hotel after a sundowner.

Overnight: Nosy Be

Day 6: Nosy Be – Antananarivo

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Antananarivo. On arrival, visit the artisan market to shop for Malagasy souvenirs, then relax for the rest of the day.

Day 7: Departure from Antananarivo

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight, taking home memories of Madagascar.
